Browsing in Trend

It’s the 3rd day of 2012, freezing cold in most parts of the country and here we are pondering spring fashion trends already! Well, that’s the way of the fashion world; new collections are released four to five months ahead of actual deliveries. Just thinking of all the amazing fashions and bright colors coming our way in the next few months gets me all excited about the warmer months; spring and summer also happen to be my favorite seasons of the year.  On to trends for spring…

Color trends-
These colors cover a wide spectrum from enticing brights to classic neutrals. The Pantone fashion color report does an amazing job of compiling the most prominent colors of the season based on reoccurring trends on the runways, interviewing designers and fashion industry experts. The names of the colors are  creative and pretty descriptive; I have tried to describe them as plainly as possible below-

Pantone Fashion Colors

(Click on the chart for a larger version)

  • Tangerine Tango-  a perfect combination of orange and red
  • Solar Power-  warm vibrant yellow
  • Bell flower- muted purple
  • Sodalite blue- a classic deep navy blue
  • Cabaret- passionate pretty pink
  • Margarita- handsome sage green
  • Sweet lilac-  lilac ( just that)
  • Driftwood- grey
  • Cockatoo- aqua blue
  • Starfish- safari brown

Stay tuned for Part II, where I share my favorite spring trends and a sneak peak of items you can expect for spring at Ladyee Boutique. I hope your week is  going well so far.

So we have a plethora of affordable and stylish wrap dresses in store. All flattering, cute and a variety of fabrications. I absolutely love the jersey wrap dress by Frenzii in grey, it’s a best seller that has been reordered many times over. It’s styled here with Ankara fabric bangles by Zebra (coming very soon to the boutique.)

Hello everyone! I hope your summer is going very well and more fun than  humid. I have so missed updating and connecting with you all. I apologize for my absence and hope to do better here on out :) .

Fall is right around the corner and I am so excited about all the super wearable (not so minute) trends and colors coming our way. Below are my favorite  fall 2011 trends-

Working Girl/secretary dress- well it is beyond obvious I like dresses, but I especially love timeless and ultra feminine styles. They are flattering on most body types and go seamlessly from the office to a night out.

Lace-  A touch of pretty lace can take a dress from boring to ohlala. I am so glad this trend (classic in my books) is leaping into it’s second fall season in a row. I want all these gorgeous lacey frocks from style maven Jason Wu.

Maxi dresses and skirts- another fabulous “un-trend” (if there is such a word.) There is a perfect maxi dress or skirt for every style and figure. It is also a trend that can be made casual or dressey very easily. Below are a few of of my favorites from Tracy Reese and Marchesa.

Ladylike frocks- I can’t get enough of all the pretty, chic, ultra-feminine dresses that are so off the moment, yes the whole 80’s rocker chic look was fine while it lasted, girly girls rejoice! A select few of my runway favorites from Tracy Reese and Marchesa.

Slim mid calf skirts- with so many amazing prints and fabrications, this super flattering silhouette has made a comeback.

Yves Klein Blue- amongst all the gorgeous hues in store this fall, I adore the richness and intensity of this shade of blue.

Maxi skirts are HUGE this season and such an easy trend to wear by just about anyone. If you’ve ever had any qualms about wearing one, here are a few easy tips to keep in mind-

#1- Proportion – with fuller more voluminous maxi skirts it’s best to go fitted and slimmer on top (a fitted vneck shirt, a fitted buttoned shirt, fitted blouse etc) with more fitted skirt options you can go either way, depends on your comfort level.

#2- Define – If you opt to wear a breezy top with your maxi skirt be sure to belt the top at the waist. You can also add extra definition by adding a belt to your maxi skirt. A maxi skirt with a band at the waist also creates the illusion of a belt.

Here’s how some stylish women wear their maxi skirts-

I love how Delmy wears her Maxi skirt below-

Happy Friday! Your trend report awaits-

So far I’ve noticed so many wearable tres chic trends for Spring 2011. My favourite ones  are-

  • The 70s/maxi trend- long dresses, wide leg pants, long skirts
  • Circle and calf length skirts
  • Fun and bold prints- black and white, ethnic prints
  • Eclectic and citrusy colours- yellow, orange etc (fantastic update for all the turquoise and reds you have in your wardrobes from past seasons.)
  • White- Nothing beats a white shirt, always chic, always on trend!
  • Nudes and Ivory- especially love these colours in vintage lace, cotton and delicate silks

Overall I love that  the trends are not only super fun and chic, they’ll be very comfortable as well.
